Dera Ghazi Khan Airport runway to be widened to accommodate bigger planes
The Pakistan Airports Authority
(PAA) has launched significant infrastructure initiatives to enhance the
country’s aviation network, including the expansion of Dera Ghazi Khan (DG)
Airport’s runway and feasibility studies for a new Sukkur International Airport.
During the monthly DG PAA E-Kachehri
session, Deputy Director General Sameer Saeed announced that the DG Khan
Airport runway will be extended to 3,000 meters in length and 45 meters in
width, with construction expected to conclude by December 2026.

He also confirmed that feasibility studies are ongoing for Sukkur International Airport, with plans to upgrade the current facilities to meet international standards.
The meeting was attended by senior
officials from commercial, human resources, operations, Simulation Quality
Management System (SQMS), and planning & development departments, who
reviewed ongoing projects and discussed passenger service concerns across
multiple airports.
The Deputy DG Works and Development
emphasized that DG Khan and Hyderabad airports are fully operational, though
flight schedules remain subject to airlines’ commercial decisions.

Participants also addressed passenger complaints, including issues related to baggage wrapping, loss of valuables, airline refunds, and staff conduct. Other operational concerns, such as unlicensed forklift use, parking charges, and passenger difficulties at Peshawar, Islamabad, and Sialkot airports, were highlighted for prompt resolution.
