Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) taking steps to improve aviation infrastructure
The Pakistan Airports Authority
(PAA) is making significant progress in upgrading and expanding the country’s
aviation infrastructure to meet growing demands.
At Karachi’s Jinnah International
Airport (JIAP), reconstruction of the second runway is underway, aimed at
enhancing operational efficiency and safety at Pakistan’s busiest airport. In
addition, expansion and upgrade projects are in progress at Sukkur, Skardu, and Dera Ghazi Khan airports to enable larger aircraft operations and improve
passenger handling capacity.
A major development is the planning
of a new greenfield airport in Dera Ismail Khan, a pivotal initiative to
bolster Pakistan’s aviation sector and improve connectivity in the region.

These updates were shared during the
second e-Kachehri chaired by Acting Director General of PAA, Air Vice Marshal
Zeeshan Saeed. Joined by Deputy DG Airports Sadiq Rehman and other senior
directors, the session addressed passenger concerns and operational challenges,
reaffirming the PAA’s commitment to enhancing airport infrastructure and
services.
Key topics discussed included:
- Improving queue management systems at Islamabad
Airport.
- Enhancing parking facilities at Multan Airport.
- Resuming flight operations at Hyderabad and Parachinar
airports.
The DG issued directives to resolve
these concerns promptly, emphasizing the PAA’s focus on making airport
operations safer, more efficient, and passenger-friendly.
