Two new Pakistani airlines to get operational clearance to start operations

Logistics company TCS is adding a Boeing 747-400 to its fleet

Air Karachi and TCS to start operations get operational clearance to start operations

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has completed arrangements to grant operational clearance to two new Pakistani airlines—one focused on passenger services and the other on cargo operations—according to airport officials.

A newly established carrier, Air Karachi, has finalized aircraft leasing plans and is expected to commence operations in May or June 2026. During its initial phase, the airline will operate domestic flights connecting Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, Quetta, and Peshawar. After completing its first year of service, the airline intends to expand into international markets.

Meanwhile, logistics company TCS is adding a Boeing 747-400 to its fleet, which will be deployed exclusively for cargo operations. At the same time, K2 Airways—already active in cargo services—is further strengthening its operations with the induction of another Boeing 747-400 aircraft.

The expansion of local fleets is expected to significantly boost air cargo capacity both domestically and on international routes. Pakistan’s air cargo market has traditionally been dominated by foreign carriers, but local operators are now positioning themselves as major players in the sector.

Industry estimates suggest that between 90,000 and 100,000 passengers travel daily from Pakistan. Currently, travelers rely on Fly Jinnah, Pakistan International Airlines, and several foreign airlines, including carriers from the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia.

A spokesperson for the Pakistan Airports Authority confirmed that all necessary facilities and support systems are in place to ensure the smooth launch and operation of the new airlines.
