Pakistan Air Force working on multiple radar systems
The Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) National Aerospace
Science & Technology Park (NASTP) has revealed that it is actively working
on nine advanced radar and sensor systems. These projects include the
development of a passive radar, a multi-function radar, and an airborne early
warning (AEW) radar, marking a significant advancement in Pakistan's indigenous
defense technology capabilities.
This announcement came during a PAF promotional
video, which highlighted a recent visit by President Asif Ali Zardari to one of
NASTP’s key facilities. The video showcased the progress made in developing
cutting-edge radar technology, underscoring the country's growing self-reliance
in defense infrastructure.

Alongside these new radar systems, NASTP has
successfully upgraded more than 40 radar units for various branches of the
Pakistani armed forces, including the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Pakistan Army
(PA), and Pakistan Navy (PN). Some of these upgraded systems have also been
supplied to international clients, reflecting the increasing global recognition
of Pakistan's defense technology sector.
These radar upgrades and ongoing developments
are part of PAF's broader effort to modernize its operational capabilities,
enhance situational awareness, and strengthen the country’s air defense
systems. The new passive radar and AEW radar are expected to significantly
improve Pakistan’s air surveillance and defense network by offering enhanced
detection and tracking abilities.

NASTP’s commitment to
local innovation in high-tech defense systems not only reduces reliance on
foreign technology but also positions Pakistan as an emerging player in the
global defense market. These advancements demonstrate the potential for
Pakistan’s defense sector to expand both domestically and internationally.
