Turkiye to help Pakistan convert Bombardier Global 6000 into jamming
aircraft
Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has announced plans to convert its single
Bombardier Global 6000 into a stand-off jamming (SOJ) aircraft with assistance
from Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). This decision was hinted at in the
PAF's latest calendar, which labeled the jet as an electronic warfare (EW)
platform. The unofficial publication of the PAF, Second-to-None, has now
confirmed these intentions.
The collaboration with TAI suggests that the PAF may be
considering the Aselsan HAVASOJ system. TAI is currently configuring four
Global 6000s with the HAVASOJ suite for the Turkish Air Force (TuAF).

The Aselsan HAVASOJ provides capabilities for radar jamming,
communications jamming, and electronic intelligence (ELINT). It leverages
transceivers to jam enemy radars by recording their transmission frequencies
and re-transmitting them using the same signal. Equipped with digital radar
frequency memory (DRFM) systems, it also excels in ELINT by monitoring enemy
radar and communications transmissions.
However, the PAF has not explicitly mentioned the HAVASOJ or
Aselsan, leaving room for speculation about its EW suite selection. It's
possible that the PAF is exploring customized solutions or alternatives from
other vendors. Prioritizing radar jamming, the PAF may opt for a tailored
version of the HAVASOJ, delegating other EW roles to other aircraft like Falcon
DA-20s, drones, and land-based systems.

This initiative to convert the Bombardier Global 6000 aligns with
the PAF's broader strategy to enhance offensive capabilities, as outlined in
Quwa's report on the PAF's air warfare plans. The experience gained from
Operation Swift Retort in 2019 highlighted the need for long-range airstrikes
and air interdiction. The PAF aims to deter future threats, considering
potential advancements in India's air defense capabilities. This strategic move
underscores Pakistan's commitment to maintaining a credible defense posture
amidst evolving regional dynamics.
