Pakistan air force to enhance cooperation with Rwanda through joint training
A high-level defense delegation from
the Republic of Rwanda, led by Lieutenant General Jean Jacques Mupenzi, Chief
of Staff of the Rwandan Air Force, recently visited Air Chief Marshal Zaheer
Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), at
the Air Headquarters in Islamabad. This visit marks a significant step towards
fostering long-term Air Force-to-Air Force relations and exploring new
opportunities for cooperation in joint training programs.
Upon arrival, Lieutenant General
Mupenzi was greeted with a Guard of Honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Air
Force.

During the meeting, the Chief of the
Air Staff shared insights into the PAF's ongoing modernization efforts, its
operational goals, and future plans with a focus on adapting to the challenges
of modern warfare. The Air Chief reiterated PAF’s commitment to assisting the
Rwandan Air Force in enhancing its personnel training, maintenance
capabilities, and operational readiness.
Lieutenant General Mupenzi expressed
deep admiration for the PAF’s professional training standards, state-of-the-art
infrastructure, and multi-domain capabilities. He commended the PAF’s
commitment to excellence and innovation in military aviation, viewing it as a
model for other air forces to follow. The Rwandan Air Force Chief emphasized
the need for substantial modernization and collaboration to enhance Rwanda’s
Air Force capabilities to address contemporary security challenges. He also
highlighted a strong interest in establishing a partnership with the PAF to develop
comprehensive training programs, including basic aircrew training and technical
training for ground crew.

The Rwandan delegation also visited
the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre and the PAF Cyber
Command, where they were briefed on PAF’s operational capabilities.
Lieutenant General Mupenzi’s visit
to the Air Headquarters underscores Rwanda’s commitment to restructuring its
Air Force with the expertise and support of the Pakistan Air Force.
