Khyber Pakhtunkhwa adopts strict policy against kite flying, aerial firing near airports
Authorities have launched a rigorous
crackdown on kite flying, pigeon flying, and aerial firing near Bacha Khan
International Airport and Risalpur Air Base due to the serious threat they pose
to aircraft safety.
The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has
provided a list of offenders to the SSP Operations for immediate arrests and
legal action. To further enhance safety, Section 144 has been enforced, and a
ban on the production and sale of kites is being strictly monitored in
Peshawar.

Inspection and Action Plan
Commissioner of Peshawar Division,
Riaz Khan Mahsud, along with Base Commander Peshawar, Yasir Khan, SSP
Operations, Masood Bangash, Assistant Commissioner Town, Haroon Saleem, General
Manager WSSP, Ejaz Ahmad, and municipal officials, conducted an inspection
around the airport area.

Officials briefed the commissioner
on the significant risks posed by aerial firing and kite flying during aircraft
takeoff and landing. In response, SSP Operations has been directed to take
immediate action against those identified by the PAF.

Crackdown and Preventive Measures
A coordination meeting has been
called, involving all assistant commissioners and local SHOs, to reinforce the
crackdown on aerial firing and ensure strict enforcement of the kite flying
ban.
Additionally, similar safety
measures have been implemented for Risalpur Air Base, with Nowshera's
administration, police, and municipal authorities instructed to take firm
action against offenders.

Safety Measures
In a bid to further reduce risks,
the General Manager of WSSP has been instructed to deploy additional personnel
and improve cleaning operations around the airport to minimize bird activity.
Authorities have also ordered the drainage of rainwater from a vacant
government plot near the airport to eliminate potential bird hazards.
