According to a statement from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, the
team, acting on orders from the control tower, struggled to control the dog. In
a bid to avoid the risk of the dog reaching the taxiway or runway, they made
the difficult decision to shoot.
Initial investigations suggest that the shooting may have been a mistake by
an airport security officer who may have mistaken the dog for a stray animal.
At the time of the incident, the dog was in parking bay number 25, where an
Etihad Airways plane was being stationed.
