PAF included among top ten air forces of the world 

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has been ranked among the world’s top air forces, securing the 7th position globally, according to a report by Global Fire Power. The United States retains its position as the most powerful air force, followed by Russia and China.

The report evaluates the strength of global air forces based on aircraft inventories, including fighter jets, helicopters, and support planes. The United States emerged as the leader with an impressive PwrIndx score of 0.0744, dominating the ranking with its vast fleet. Russia and China secured the second and third spots, respectively.

India, South Korea, and Japan followed in the rankings, with Pakistan securing the 7th position, a remarkable achievement for the Pakistan Air Force.

The report highlights the US Air Force’s unmatched power, with its fleet surpassing the combined air capabilities of Russia, China, India, South Korea, and Japan. The US operates 5,737 helicopters, 1,854 fighter jets, and 3,722 support aircraft, supported by a defense budget of $800 billion, which accounts for nearly 40% of the world’s total military spending.

Russia, ranked second, operates just a third of the US’s air power, with 1,554 helicopters, 809 fighter jets, and 610 support aircraft. However, Russia has faced significant losses, including the destruction of 220 aircraft since the start of the Ukraine war in 2022.

China, which holds the third position, continues to modernize its air force with the addition of sixth-generation fighter jets and investments in supersonic aircraft. India, South Korea, and Japan round out the top six, with 2,296, 1,576, and 1,459 aircraft, respectively.

The report underscores the dynamic evolution of global air power, with countries like China making substantial technological advancements, while Russia faces challenges in maintaining its air fleet amid ongoing military conflicts.
