UAE aviation team assesses security arrangements at Karachi Airport
A team from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab
Emirates has commenced an aviation security assessment at Karachi’s Jinnah
International Airport starting Tuesday.
According to a spokesman for the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA),
the GCAA team, led by Senior Director of Aviation Affairs Abdullah Al Kaabi,
was warmly received by PCAA’s Director Aviation, retired Air Cdre Shahid Qadir,
upon their arrival in Karachi.
Over the course of four days, the two-member GCAA team will scrutinize the
implementation of various security protocols at the airport, focusing
particularly on measures pertaining to flights destined for the UAE.

Aviation’s assessment continues at Pakistani airports
The ongoing assessment reflects collaborative efforts between the GCAA and
PCAA aimed at bolstering aviation security standards across Pakistan, the PCAA
spokesman emphasized.
Earlier in June, a similar assessment was conducted by a GCAA team at
Islamabad International Airport, where inquiries were made regarding scanning
machinery standards and procedures for issuing different types of passes.
During that visit, Mr. Al Kaabi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to enhancing
Pakistan’s aviation security framework through capacity building and capability
enhancement.

Meanwhile, responding to circulating social media rumors alleging the secret
sale of Jinnah International Airport, the PCAA has categorically dismissed
these claims as baseless. In an official statement, the PCAA reiterated that
the airport remains under the management of the Pakistan Civil Aviation
Authority and urged the public to rely on verified information from official
sources to avoid unnecessary confusion.
