Training for New Gwadar International Airport held in Hainan,
China
Training for the New Gwadar International Airport, currently under
construction in Balochistan province, Pakistan, has concluded successfully in
Hainan, China.
Subhash Chader, Senior Assistant Director of Communication, Navigation, and
Surveillance at the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), highlighted that
the training encompassed airport operations, Chinese aeronautical regulations,
airport management, aviation safety, aircraft maintenance, security, and
logistics.

Muhammad Qayyam Khalid, Senior Deputy Director of Commercial Development and
Cargo Operations at PCAA, emphasized the technological advancements and
infrastructure of Hainan's airports, noting their role in supporting the
region's rapid development.
Participants also visited Hainan Free Trade Port’s aircraft maintenance
industrial base during the training, exploring potential cooperation
opportunities with Pakistan in related industries, as reported by China Daily.
The one-stop aircraft maintenance base in Hainan, with an investment of
approximately 1.62 billion yuan ($220 million) and covering 15 hectares, aims
to become a high-level, intelligent platform serving the global aircraft
maintenance market. Khalid suggested collaboration between Pakistan and Hainan
in aircraft maintenance services, leveraging the province’s expertise and
facilities.

The New Gwadar International Airport, aided by China, is a significant
project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Belt and Road
Initiative. Construction began in 2019 and is now in the final phase of flight
calibration testing, signaling its readiness for operational commencement.
The airport's development is expected to enhance living standards in
Balochistan and stimulate economic growth in Gwadar and surrounding areas.
