Pakistan's K2 Airways receives its first B737F-400 aircraft

K2 Airways (KTA, Karachi International) has ferried in its first B737-400(BDSF) aircraft. Currently registered as VP-CFG (msn 29210), the aircraft arrived in Pakistan after completing pre-delivery maintenance at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta. It is expected to be registered locally as AP-BOI.

K2 Airways transitioned to freight-only operations after a 2023 plan to lease two passenger-configured E190s fell through due to the supplier's inability to provide a second aircraft.

The airline had intended to launch passenger charter flights, but local regulations require operators to have at least two aircraft to obtain or retain a passenger charter air operator's certificate (AOC).

K2 Airways CEO Tariq Raja expressed optimism about securing a second freighter later this year, stabilizing cargo operations, and revisiting the passenger charter initiative. He aims to have AP-BOI commence revenue operations within the next few weeks.
