Airlines announce increase in FED on international flights from Pakistan
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and other Pakistani airlines have
announced an increase in the federal excise duty (FED) on international flight
tickets. This adjustment follows the federal government's decision to raise the
FED in the 2024-25 budget.
According to the new notification, the FED on economy and economy plus
tickets has surged by 150%. Previously, passengers paid Rs5,000 in FED for
economy tickets, but this amount has now escalated to Rs12,500.

For Club Class travelers to the USA, the FED has increased from Rs250,000 to
Rs350,000. Similarly, the duty on tickets to Africa and the Middle East has
risen from Rs75,000 to Rs105,000.
For flights to European destinations, the FED has been hiked from Rs150,000
to Rs210,000. Additionally, the duty on tickets to Australia, New Zealand, and
Far East countries has increased by 40%, reaching Rs210,000.

International Airlines (PIA) offers discount in fares to students
In a separate announcement, PIA has reduced Umrah fares for pilgrims. The
new fares for travel to Madina and Jeddah are as follows:
- Karachi to
Madina: PKR 76,000 (plus tax) for a round trip
- Islamabad,
Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, and Sialkot to Madina: PKR 86,000 (plus tax) for
a round trip
