Asia Pacific Civil Aviation Conference 2024 to be held in India
The second Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation will take
place in New Delhi on September 11-12.
Representatives from around 40 countries, including China and Pakistan, will
attend.
The Asia Pacific region significantly contributes to global air traffic,
with India being the fastest-growing aviation market globally. The conference,
organized jointly by the Indian government and the International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO) APAC, aims to address critical issues in the sector.

At the curtain-raiser event in New Delhi, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan
Naidu highlighted India's progress in aviation, projecting annual passenger
traffic to reach 250 million. He emphasized the importance of sustainability
and efforts to make aviation more accessible and affordable.
Countries participating include Australia, Singapore, France, the US, the
UK, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, North Korea, Pakistan, and Japan, among others.
The first conference was held in Beijing in 2018.
DGCA Chief Vikram Dev Dutt noted that the Asia Pacific region accounted for
over 33% of global flight departures in 2023. Minister of State for Civil
Aviation Muralidhar Mohol and Civil Aviation Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam both
underscored the potential for growth in the region and highlighted India's
rapid expansion in the aviation sector.

India's aviation market has seen significant growth, with the number of
aircraft increasing from 400 to over 800 and airports growing from 74 to 157 in
the past decade, as noted on the ministerial conference website.
