Karachi Airport takes major step to reduce congestion at departure counters
All 20 immigration departure counters at Jinnah International Airport have
been made fully operational to ensure smoother passenger movement, officials
said on Saturday.
Deputy Director of Immigration Shehzad Akbar stated that complete staffing during peak hours has reduced the average immigration clearance time to about one minute per passenger.

He added that a pre-departure clearance counter
is now available, enabling travelers to complete immigration formalities days
before their scheduled flights to avoid last-minute delays.
Authorities said further improvements are
underway, including the installation of e-gates and the launch of a dedicated
mobile application to streamline departure procedures.
Officials also highlighted recent measures by
the Airport Security Force restricting entry
of non-travelers to areas outside the departure zone, helping ease congestion.
During busy travel periods, selected domestic lounge counters are temporarily reassigned to international departures to provide airlines with additional boarding capacity.
