Bird strike concerns force Lahore Airport to shut operations daily
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced the closure of Allama Iqbal
International Airport in Lahore for three hours daily during the upcoming
monsoon season.
From July 10 to September 10, both runways will be closed from 5:00 am to
8:00 am to mitigate the risk posed by increased bird activity, ensuring the
safety of flights and passengers.

A notice has been issued to all domestic and international airlines,
informing them of this temporary closure schedule. Emergency landing provisions
will remain in place for critical situations.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) recently provided an update on
the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, reporting 61 instances of bird strikes
affecting aircraft last year.
PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) has highlighted significant financial
losses due to bird strikes, with 39 incidents recorded at domestic airports in
recent months alone.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has forecasted
a 35% rise in rainfall compared to previous years, emphasizing the need for
timely completion of all preparatory measures before the monsoon season begins,
