Pakistan to implement bird deterrent systems at airports to enhance
flight safety
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has taken a significant step towards ensuring flight safety by deciding to install bird deterrent systems at airports across the country.
PCAA officials have confirmed that these systems will be deployed at Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore airports with the aim of preventing bird strikes.
To facilitate this initiative, the aviation regulator has invited Expression of Interest (EOI) from reputable firms and individuals with expertise in wildlife management, particularly in airport environments, to prepare a feasibility report.

The tender process is set to commence on September 28, according to insider sources.
Insiders within the PCAA have disclosed that the initial phase of implementation will focus on Lahore airport, with the expectation that this measure will lead to a reduction in bird strike incidents.
The bird deterrent systems will be installed on the primary and secondary runways of both Karachi and Lahore airports.
Persistent bird strikes at Pakistani airports have been attributed to the lack of cleanliness in nearby densely populated areas, posing not only a threat to aircraft but also endangering the lives of passengers.
