UK team praises Islamabad Airport's security measures
The UK Department for Transport (UKDfT) Aviation Security
Assessment team has concluded its evaluation of Islamabad International
Airport, expressing satisfaction with the security protocols in place for
direct flights to the UK.
Hosted by Air Commodore (R) Shahid Qadir, Director Avsec of the
Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), the four-member UKDfT team conducted
a thorough review of the airport’s security measures. Their assessment covered
passenger, staff, baggage, and vehicle screening procedures, as well as
aircraft and baggage protection.

The UKDfT inspectors commended the airport’s stringent security
measures aimed at ensuring safe flight operations. They noted that the entities
responsible for aviation security generally adhered to UK standards.
Although a few recommendations for further improvements were
provided, the overall feedback was positive. During the debriefing, Gaffar,
First Secretary Aviation (UKDfT) at the British High Commission, expressed
gratitude for the hospitality shown by the Airport Manager and the Directorate
of Avsec, PCAA.

He emphasized that such engagements would strengthen aviation ties
between the UK and Pakistan. The final report of the assessment will be
submitted to the PCAA within three weeks.
In appreciation of their efforts, the UKDfT team was presented
with souvenirs on behalf of Secretary Aviation Capt. (R) Saif Anjum.
