A
team from the United Kingdom's Department for Transport (UK-DfT) Aviation
Security Unit has launched a security assessment at Islamabad International
Airport.
Mohammed
Abdul Ghaffar, the First Secretary of Aviation at the British High Commission's
UK Department for Transport (UK-DfT), arrived at Islamabad International
Airport (IIAP) accompanied by UK-DfT inspectors to conduct an aviation security
(AvSec) evaluation of the airport.

The
team received a warm welcome from Air Commodore (R) Shahid Qadir, representing
the Secretary of Aviation, who is the Director of AvSec at the Pakistan Civil
Aviation Authority (PCAA).
Mr.
Ghaffar reiterated the UK's dedication to strengthening Pakistan's aviation
security system through initiatives aimed at enhancing capacity and capability.
The inaugural meeting, attended by Airport Manager Aftab Gillani and other
pertinent airport stakeholders, marked the commencement of the assessment.
Throughout
the assessment process, the UK-DfT team will closely examine the implementation
of various security measures at the airport, with a specific focus on protocols
concerning direct flights to the UK.

This
assessment is part of the ongoing collaborative efforts between the British
High Commission in Pakistan and the PCAA to elevate aviation security standards
within the country.
Earlier
this month, the European Air Safety Committee was set to approve the renewal of
Third Country Operators' Permits for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and
Vision Air flights next month.
