Bird strike incidents reduced in Pakistan
The Sixth Meeting of the ICAO Asia Pacific Wildlife Hazard Management Working Group (AP-WHM WG/6) convened at the ICAO APAC Office in Bangkok from May 14th to May 17th.
The gathering was attended by representatives from the
Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), led by Syed Aftab Gilani, Chief Operating Officer of Islamabad International Airport (IIAP).
Throughout the meeting, numerous working papers were presented by over 18 participating states and international organizations.

Various case studies, industry best practices, and technological advancements were also deliberated during the sessions.
The PCAA delegation delivered Pakistan's progress report concerning the development and implementation of its Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
It was revealed that a total of 61 aircraft, belonging to both foreign and national airlines, were affected by bird strikes last year.

According to statistics provided by a spokesperson from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national carrier incurred significant financial losses due to bird strikes, with 39 incidents reported in the last six months at domestic airports across Pakistan.
