Names of three major airports of Pakistan added into privatization program

The federal government has included Pakistan's three largest international airports in its revised five-year privatization programme, with plans to complete their privatization during the first phase of the initiative.

According to official documents, Jinnah International Airport, Islamabad International Airport and Allama Iqbal International Airport have been added to the updated roadmap as part of the government's efforts to restructure state-owned enterprises.

The revised plan envisages the privatization or restructuring of 25 state-owned enterprises in three phases. The first phase, to be completed within one year, covers 11 entities, while 13 entities will be taken up during the second phase over the following one to three years. The remaining entity will be privatized during the final phase, spanning three to five years.

The government has removed Pakistan International Airlines and First Women Bank Limited from the updated roadmap, considering the privatization of both entities complete.

In addition to the three airports, the first phase includes the privatization of Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company, Gujranwala Electric Power Company, Roosevelt Hotel in New York, Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, House Building Finance Company, Pakistan Engineering Company and Sindh Engineering Limited.
