PIA to restart direct flights to Beijing after growing demand

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the resumption of its direct flight service between Islamabad and Beijing, with operations scheduled to restart on July 3, marking a significant step toward enhancing air connectivity between Pakistan and China.

The revival of the Islamabad–Beijing–Islamabad route comes in response to growing demand from students, business travelers, tourists, and families seeking convenient travel options between the two countries.

In a statement, PIA said the restoration of direct flights reflects the national carrier’s commitment to strengthening bilateral connectivity and supporting cooperation in key sectors, including trade, tourism, education, and cultural exchange.

The airline noted that the route will facilitate smoother travel for passengers and contribute to expanding people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and China, which maintain a longstanding strategic partnership.

China is Pakistan’s largest trading partner and a major investor under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), making efficient air links vital for business activities and official exchanges. The resumption of direct flights is expected to benefit entrepreneurs, professionals, and students who regularly travel between the two countries.

The move also aligns with broader efforts by PIA to restore and expand its international network following increased travel demand and the gradual recovery of global aviation markets.

Aviation analysts view the reopening of the Beijing route as a positive development for regional connectivity, particularly as economic and commercial ties between Pakistan and China continue to grow.
