Serene Air commences biweekly fights to Beijing in November
On November 18, 2023, Serene Air, a privately-owned
Pakistani airline, will inaugurate two weekly flights connecting Karachi to
Beijing via Islamabad. These flights, designated as KHI-ISB-PKX, will land at
Daxing International Airport, one of Beijing's two international airports, the
other being Beijing Capital International Airport.
According to a representative from the airline, this new
direct flight between Pakistan and China will offer more cost-effective travel
options for both Pakistani and Chinese travelers, benefiting business
professionals, students, and individuals engaged in various projects related to
the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Pakistan.
Pakistan’s
airline industry sees competition rising, Serene Air announces huge discount
Serene Air initially introduced its first international
flights to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in January 2021
after receiving approval from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority to expand
its international operations. The privately-owned low-cost carrier has been
operating domestic flights within Pakistan since 2017. Under Pakistani
regulations, airlines must operate domestically for at least a year before
venturing into foreign markets.
Previously, the national flag carrier Pakistan International
Airlines (PIA) had introduced connecting flights between Pakistan and 16
enticing cities in China through Beijing in collaboration with Air China. These
Chinese cities include Guangzhou, Wuhan, Urumqi, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Shenyang,
Shanghai, Ningbo, Nanjing, Harbin, Hangzhou, Hohhot, Dunhuang, Chengdu,
Changchun, and Chongqing.
