Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to procure six
fuel-efficient engines for Airbus A320 fleet
The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is in the process
of procuring six fuel-efficient engines for its Airbus A320 aircraft fleet, as
reported by a local media outlet. The national flag carrier has issued an
advertisement inviting interested parties to submit their offers for leasing
and procurement to the PIA's GM Contract Supply Management Department. The
submission deadline is November 13, 2023.
In other news, a PIA spokesperson has announced the full
restoration of flight operations following the resumption of fuel supply by the
Pakistan State Oil (PSO).
Privatization
of PIA-owned Scribe Hotel in the pipeline
All PIA flights departing from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad,
and other airports are now operating without delays. The airline had faced
significant disruptions in the past three weeks due to inadequate fuel supply.
Additionally, the federal government's plan to privatize PIA
is progressing as eight foreign companies have responded to Pakistan's request
for the privatization of the national flag carrier.
The Privatisation Commission has received technical and
financial proposals from eight advisory firms, according to Minister for
Privatisation Fawad Hasan Fawad.
