PIA stops flights to multiple destinations due to increase in jet fuel prices
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)
has revealed a series of operational cutbacks in response to the fourth
consecutive rise in international jet fuel prices. As part of these changes,
the airline will suspend flights to Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, and several Gulf
destinations.
A spokesperson for PIA explained
that these decisions were made during an internal meeting aimed at addressing
the ongoing financial strain caused by soaring aviation fuel costs. The airline
is now looking at ways to minimize losses while maintaining its core services.
Effective April 11, PIA will
discontinue its flights to Beijing, while services to Kuala Lumpur will cease
starting April 14. Additionally, flights to most Gulf destinations—except for
the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia—will be suspended through the end of
April. In the UAE, PIA's operations will be significantly reduced, with no more
than 16 flights per week.

The spokesperson clarified that
these measures were a direct result of the continuous hike in jet fuel prices.
“We cannot pass the full burden of rising fuel costs onto passengers, which is
why we’ve had to make some difficult decisions,” the spokesperson said.
Despite the challenges, PIA remains
hopeful that international fuel prices will stabilize soon, allowing the
airline to restore suspended routes in the future.
