Peoples Air Ambulance service to facilitate patients living in far flung areas
The Government of Balochistan has
launched a new air ambulance service aimed at improving emergency medical
access across the province’s remote and underserved regions. The service,
branded as “Peoples Air Ambulance,” will operate using a Cessna 208B Grand
Caravan registered in Pakistan as AP-BPB.
The launch marks a significant step
in strengthening emergency healthcare and medical evacuation capabilities in
Pakistan’s largest province by area, where vast distances, rugged terrain and
limited road connectivity have long posed challenges for critically ill and
injured patients.

Officials said the service is
expected to support rapid transportation of patients from remote districts to
major healthcare centres, particularly during medical emergencies, natural
disasters and accidents. The aircraft can also be used for humanitarian relief
and urgent logistical operations when needed.
The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan is
widely used around the world for regional transport, medevac and humanitarian
missions because of its reliability and ability to operate from short and
unpaved airstrips. Its deployment in Balochistan is expected to improve access
to timely medical care in areas where ground transportation can take several
hours.
Balochistan has faced persistent
healthcare accessibility issues due to its sparse population distribution and
limited medical infrastructure outside major cities such as Quetta. Patients
from remote districts often need to travel long distances for specialised
treatment, making emergency response times a major concern.
