Pakistan says its missile program is aimed at safeguarding regional peace and stability
Pakistan has strongly rejected claims by a senior
US intelligence official suggesting its missile program could pose a threat
to the United States, questioning the basis and timing of such remarks.
Responding to media queries, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan’s strategic capabilities are purely defensive, aimed at safeguarding sovereignty and maintaining regional peace and stability.

sanctions to hurt Pakistan’s ballistic missile program
The statement came after Tulsi Gabbard, while presenting the 2026 Annual
Threat Assessment to the Senate Intelligence Committee, listed Pakistan among
countries whose missile developments could potentially threaten the US
homeland.
Andrabi stressed that Pakistan’s missile
program remains below intercontinental range and is based on a policy of
credible minimum deterrence, particularly in the context of India.
He contrasted this with India’s missile capabilities, noting they exceed 12,000 kilometres and go beyond regional security needs, raising concerns for the wider region.
