Pakistan Airports Authority looking to improve navigation at Multan Airport
The Pakistan
Airports Authority (PAA) has issued a tender notice inviting bids for the
installation of advanced navigation equipment at Multan International Airport,
in a move aimed at enhancing aviation safety and operational efficiency.
According to the official notice,
the project involves the installation of DVOR (Doppler VHF Omnidirectional
Range) and DME (Distance Measuring Equipment), both critical components of
modern air navigation systems. These technologies enable aircraft to accurately
determine their position and distance from the airport, particularly during
approach and landing phases.
The tender is being conducted under
Rule 36(a) of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), following the
Single Stage Single Envelope procedure. Interested contractors and firms can
access detailed bidding documents, including terms and conditions, via the
PPRA’s e-procurement portal.

Enhancing
Aviation Infrastructure
The installation of DVOR and DME
systems is part of broader efforts to modernize Pakistan’s aviation
infrastructure. These systems play a vital role in improving flight navigation
accuracy, especially in low-visibility conditions, thereby contributing to safer
and more reliable air travel.
Multan, a major economic and
cultural hub in southern Punjab, has seen increasing passenger traffic in
recent years. Upgrading navigational aids at its international airport is
expected to support this growth and align the facility with international
aviation standards.
Officials from the Civil Division
(Maintenance & Development) of the PAA in Multan stated that the project
reflects the authority’s continued commitment to upgrading airport
infrastructure across the country.
