Pakistan Airports Authority holds emergency exercise at Multan airport

Emergency drill held at Multan airport to enhance airport safety 

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) successfully conducted a full-scale emergency exercise at Multan International Airport (MIAP) on Thursday to enhance airport safety and emergency preparedness.

The drill adhered to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, focusing on improving coordination, communication, and resource-sharing among various response teams. The exercise began with a fuel firefighting demonstration by PAA’s specialized fire teams, followed by a large-scale rescue operation involving EDHI, Rescue 1122, and PAA’s internal units.

A Triage Area was set up to provide immediate medical care for simulated casualties, staffed by the PAA medical team and healthcare professionals from Nishtar Hospital, Railway Hospital, and Civil Hospital.

Participants included the Airport Security Force (ASF), military authorities, airline operators like Air Blue and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), and ground service providers such as TGS Handler RAS, SAPS, and GERRYS DNATA MIAP.

The exercise concluded with a debriefing session, where observers commended the high levels of effectiveness, collaboration, and inter-agency coordination. The PAA reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and operational readiness at airports across Pakistan.
