Pakistani passengers stranded at Kuala Lumpur Airport appeal government for assistance
Over 350 Pakistani passengers have
been stranded at Kuala Lumpur Airport in Malaysia for the past five days due to
the lack of a return flight to Pakistan. Among them is a Lahore resident set to
be married this Friday.
According to media reports, the
passengers were scheduled to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Lahore on Batik Air
flight OD 131, operated by an Airbus A330. However, their return has been
repeatedly delayed. Zeeshan Ahmed Siddiqi, a resident of Harbanspura, Lahore,
is among the stranded travelers, with his wedding planned for Friday. While
wedding guests have already arrived at his home, there’s still no sign of the
groom’s return.

Passengers report that many stranded
individuals include women, children, and elderly people. The airline, facing a
shortage of planes for Pakistan-bound flights, arranged one aircraft, only for
it to develop an engine issue just before takeoff. The passengers were returned
to the airport lounge and later moved to a hotel.
The affected passengers have
appealed to the Pakistani government for urgent assistance, as many are running
out of funds to cover their expenses.
