Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport to get new ATC Tower
The Pakistan
Airports Authority (PAA) has announced the launch of a major development
project at Karachi’s Jinnah
International Airport: the construction of a new air traffic control (ATC)
tower along with a state-of-the-art rescue and firefighting station (RFFS),
according to a press release issued on Friday.
The design phase is expected to take
six months, after which construction of both the tower and the RFFS will span
approximately two years.

The PAA stated that the facilities
will be designed and built by MM Pakistan in collaboration with Spain-based
firms CEMOSA and Fairbanks Architects, bringing international expertise in
airport planning and in communication, navigation, and air traffic management
(CNS/ATM) systems integration.
Senior architect Bruce Fairbanks and
CNS/ATM specialist Juan Cruz Canabate recently led a four-day workshop at
Jinnah International Airport, working with local aviation experts to establish
design criteria and determine project needs.
After reviewing three possible
sites, the PAA has finalized the locations for both the ATC tower and the new
fire station. The selected sites meet operational, safety, and long-term
development requirements.
