KP Governor sends letter to Defense Minister for restarting PIA flights from Peshawar
Governor Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has urged the federal government to restore Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)
flights from Peshawar, both domestic and international, to better serve
passengers, overseas Pakistanis, and the province’s business community.
In a letter addressed to Federal
Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Governor Kundi commended the
minister’s efforts to revive and strengthen PIA’s global operations. He called
for the immediate reinstatement of daily domestic flights between Peshawar and
Karachi, citing strong demand on the route.

The governor noted that currently only one private airline operates between the two cities, resulting in limited seat availability and inflated fares that inconvenience travelers and traders alike.
Kundi also underscored the need to
restore international services from Peshawar, particularly to Gulf
and Middle Eastern destinations where a significant number of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa expatriates are employed. He said that the suspension of these
flights has created difficulties for overseas workers, business owners, and
their families who depend on direct and affordable travel links to Pakistan.

Expressing optimism, Governor Kundi
said he believes that under the federal government’s leadership, PIA can
reclaim its past reputation and “once again command the skies as it did during
its golden decades.”
A copy of the letter has also been
sent to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PIA for necessary action.
