Iran Air starts direct flights on Mashhad-Zahedan-Quetta route
Iran Air has inaugurated its first-ever direct flight to Quetta, marking a significant milestone in strengthening air connectivity between Pakistan and Iran.
The inaugural flight, operated by an
Airbus A319 as Flight 826 on the Mashhad–Zahedan–Quetta route, landed at Quetta International Airport on Wednesday night,
where it was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute and a warm
reception from aviation and government officials.

A ceremony was held in the State Lounge to commemorate the occasion, attended by Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel as the chief guest, along with Iran’s Consul General, senior Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials, and representatives from the diplomatic and business communities. The event began with the national anthems of both Pakistan and Iran.
Governor Mandokhel hailed the launch
as “a landmark development” that would enhance bilateral relations while
boosting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two countries.
“This direct service will foster
closer ties between our people and open new avenues for pilgrims, traders, and
travelers,” he said.

According to officials, Iran Air will operate the Mashhad–Zahedan–Quetta route once a week, every Wednesday, arriving in Quetta at 9:30 p.m. The inaugural flight carried 30 passengers to Quetta and departed with 120 passengers on the return leg.
A CAA spokesperson described the
launch as “a proud moment for Quetta International Airport,” emphasizing that
the new air link would facilitate smoother travel for pilgrims, businesspeople,
and families from both nations.
