Pakistan Airports Authority announces plans to upgrade three airports  

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced a major development initiative to upgrade three airports and construct a new greenfield facility at Dera Ismail Khan Airport.

A PAA spokesperson revealed that the authority has enlisted national and international consultants from Japan and Switzerland through a competitive bidding process. The consultants will be tasked with designing modern terminals, improving taxiways, and expanding infrastructure to meet the growing demands of passenger and aircraft traffic.

PAA Director General, Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed, emphasized the importance of these upgrades in positioning Pakistan as a key global aviation hub. He noted that the improvements will enhance operational efficiency, elevate the passenger experience, and strengthen connectivity.

The development plan includes the expansion and modernization of Skardu, Sukkur, and D.G. Khan airports, as well as the construction of the new D.I. Khan airport.

To ensure the project progresses smoothly, PAA has appointed project directors who will oversee the design phase and ensure seamless execution. These directors will serve as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.

Additionally, the Planning and Development Directorate of the PAA has launched significant projects at Karachi and Lahore airports. The runway and external road network at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport are complete, while expansion efforts at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport continue to enhance passenger facilities.
