UK team's assessment to pave way for restoration of PIA flights to the European country
A high-level delegation from the United Kingdom’s aviation authorities has
arrived in Pakistan to assess the country’s aviation safety standards. This
marks a pivotal step toward the possible resumption of direct flights between
the two nations.
The team, composed of officials from the UK Department for Transport (DfT)
and the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), will conduct an in-depth review of
Pakistan’s aviation safety protocols and operational practices. The Pakistan
Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) Director General, Nadir Shafi Dar, is leading
the Pakistani delegation in these important discussions.

Throughout their visit, the British experts will evaluate how well airlines
comply with international safety standards and engage in technical discussions
with PCAA officials. This evaluation follows months of preparatory talks
between the aviation authorities of both countries.
“This visit is a crucial milestone in our efforts to restore direct flight
services between Pakistan and the United Kingdom,” said a PCAA spokesperson.
The authority is optimistic about the outcome, pointing to significant
improvements made to align with global aviation safety standards.
If the safety audit is successful, it could clear the way for Pakistani
carriers to resume flights in British airspace, potentially lifting the
restrictions that have limited access to UK routes, according to aviation
experts.
