Over 30 PIA aircraft left to rot at Karachi Airport
More than 30 abandoned aircraft at
Karachi Airport have fallen into disrepair, turning into scrap metal and
makeshift shelters for birds, with various parts reportedly going missing.
Reportedly, a conflict over the General Declaration (GD) has led to the abandonment of these planes, including several from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), at the airport for years.

Among the neglected aircraft are 13
non-operational PIA planes, including Airbus 310s and two Jumbo 747s. Sources
indicate that customs officials have been requesting GDs for these planes, but
PIA has yet to provide them.
As a result, customs authorities
have withheld the issuance of the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
This delay in securing NOCs has led
to substantial financial losses for PIA. The airline is facing millions in
losses, as the removal process for these aircraft cannot commence until the
required NOCs are issued.
