Pakistan's first-ever workshop
on Space Law and Policy to be held in Islamabad
The National Center of GIS and Space
Applications (NCGSA), in partnership with the Institute of Space Technology
(IST), will host Pakistan’s inaugural Workshop on ‘Space Law and Policy’ from
September 3-4.
This pioneering event, the first of
its kind in the nation, will focus on the rapidly growing fields of space law
and policy, essential for navigating the complex legal and regulatory
challenges associated with space activities. As space increasingly influences
global geopolitics and national security, the workshop aims to equip
participants with the knowledge needed to address these evolving issues.

Experts from prestigious
organizations, including Access Partnership (Singapore), the Pakistan Space
Activities Regulatory Board (PSARB), National Defence University (NDU)
Pakistan, Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) China, and the
National Center for Cyber Security (NCCS) Pakistan, will contribute their
insights during the two-day event.
Key topics will include
International Space Treaties and Agreements, Space Governance and Regulatory
Frameworks, Pakistan's National Space Policy, Space Diplomacy, Liability and
Insurance in Space Activities, and Space Sustainability, with a focus on debris
and environmental protection. Additionally, the workshop will address the
crucial issues of Space Security and Cyber Security, highlighting the intersection
of these challenges in contemporary space law and policy.
