Pakistan to buy FC-31 stealth jets from China to strengthen its air force
Pakistan has announced plans to
acquire FC-31 stealth fighter jets from China, marking a significant upgrade
for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and expanding the global reach of Chinese
military technology.
According to a report from Global
Times China, the PAF’s modernization strategy includes integrating the
FC-31 as a central component in its transition to a fifth-generation air force.
Developed by China’s state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC), the
FC-31 is a single-seat, twin-engine stealth fighter designed to compete with
the US F-35.

fighters
Military experts emphasize the
FC-31’s advanced stealth features, superior situational awareness, and
versatile armament capabilities, which will greatly enhance Pakistan’s air
defense. The jet is capable of engaging in both air-to-air combat and precision
strikes on ground targets, offering a significant technological advantage.
This acquisition aligns with Pakistan’s long-standing reliance on Chinese military equipment, such as the J-10C and JF-17 fighter jets, as well as advanced missile systems and radar technology. The addition of the FC-31 is expected to significantly bolster Pakistan’s air capabilities, particularly in comparison to its regional rivals who may not have access to similar fifth-generation aircraft in the near future.

For China, this deal is a strategic
win, potentially opening new markets, especially in the Middle East. As
Pakistan begins integrating the FC-31 into joint military exercises, the
aircraft’s performance could attract further international interest,
reinforcing China’s status as a leading global arms supplier.
