Zilzal II: Pakistan and Qatar start two week air exercise

In a joint effort to strengthen military ties and enhance operational capabilities, Pakistan and Qatar have initiated a joint aerial exercise named Zilzal II in Qatar. The two-week exercise will involve diverse air combat scenarios and maneuvers.

According to a spokesperson from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Zilzal II is among the most intricate and challenging exercises in which the PAF has participated. The exercise aims to foster mutual cooperation, shared learning, and the refinement of strategic planning and modern military techniques between the two air forces.

The exercise will mark the debut of the J-10C fighter jet, a cutting-edge aircraft that Pakistan acquired from China the previous year. The J-10C, a multi-role fighter, is capable of air-to-air, air-to-ground, and air-to-sea missions. It boasts advanced avionics, weaponry, and stealth features, establishing itself as a formidable force in the skies.

During the exercise, the J-10C will showcase its capabilities alongside other aircraft from both nations, including the F-16, Mirage, Rafale, and AWACS. Aerial refueling, electronic warfare, and joint air defense operations are also part of the exercise.

Zilzal II is the second edition of the joint air exercise between Pakistan and Qatar, building upon the success of the first exercise held in 2020. Hosted by the Qatari Emiri Air Force (QEAF), this exercise is part of a series of bilateral and multilateral exercises regularly conducted by the PAF with friendly nations.
