Two more PIA flight attendants reportedly missing in Canada
Two more PIA employees, initially deployed as flight attendants,
have reportedly gone missing in Toronto, Canada, failing to return to Pakistan
as scheduled.
This brings the total count of PIA employees slipping away in
Canada over the past year to nine.
The spokesperson for the national flag carrier, confirming the
incident, identified the missing officers as Syed Ali Abbas and Farkhanda
Shaheen.
Flight
crew members of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) keep disappearing in
Canada
Despite concerted efforts by airline management to curb this
trend, recent measures such as imposing a ban on deploying young crew members
on Canada flights have proven insufficient. The management's rationale was that
senior crew members would be less likely to risk going missing in Canada, but
the trend persists.
The apparent motivations behind the crew members' disappearances
in Canada are believed to be concerns related to the airline's privatization
plan and low salaries. On the other hand, PIA officers argue that Canada's
lenient asylum program contributes to the issue.

Expressing concern, another PIA officer stated, "The national
airline's management has had to face embarrassment from Canadian authorities
due to such escape incidents."
Despite the national carrier's efforts to prevent such incidents,
including raising the age limit for crew members, the problem persists.
Previous incidents involved crew members Muntasar Mehdi, Muhammad Ayaz, Fida
Hussain, Khalid Mehmood, and Ijaz Ali.
