Operation begins in Peshawar against pigeon owners in the vicinity
of the airport
The district administration, with the cooperation of local
law enforcement, has initiated an operation to address individuals engaged in
pigeon racing and pigeon-related commerce in the vicinity of Peshawar Airport.
This action aims to prevent disturbances to air traffic and potential
accidents.
Earlier, the administration had enforced a ban under
Section-144, prohibiting the sale, purchase, and release of pigeons in the
areas surrounding the airport, resulting in the confiscation of numerous
pigeons from local shops.

During a recent crackdown, Additional Assistant Commissioner
Samira Saba apprehended more than 12 individuals engaged in pigeon racing
within the airport's vicinity.
Furthermore, the administration employed loudspeakers in
nearby mosques to broadcast announcements, informing residents about the
complete prohibition on pigeon-related activities around the airport. They
warned that any violations would result in severe legal consequences. In this
regard, the local police have been instructed to sustain their efforts in
preventing pigeon racing and pigeon-related business activities on a daily
basis.
