MoU signed to electrify New Gwadar International Airport
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been officially
executed between the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) and Quetta
Electric Supply Company (QESCO) to electrify the New Gwadar International
Airport (NGIA) by connecting it to the national power grid.
This strategic agreement, made under the guidance of the
Ministry of Planning, will deliver approximately 12 megawatts (MW) of
electrical power to the NGIA by October 17, ensuring uninterrupted 24-hour
electricity supply. The MoU specifies that commercial tariffs will be based on
the consumption of electricity.
New
Gwadar International Airport opening postponed by an additional six months
According to the agreement, Quetta Electric Supply Company,
responsible for power distribution in Baluchistan, has been authorized to
supply 12 MW of electricity to the NGIA. A QESCO representative confirmed that
testing and commissioning have already been completed, and all essential
infrastructure, including poles, transmission lines, and electrical circuits,
has been synchronized with the newly installed power system.
