PCCA commences pre-bidding process
for outsourcing Islamabad airport
The Pakistan Civil Aviation
Authority (PCCA) has initiated the pre-bidding phase for outsourcing the
management of Islamabad International Airport, adopting the public-private
partnership (PPP) model.
An official invitation
notice has been issued to interested parties to participate in the pre-bid
conference scheduled to take place in Dubai on September 26.

approves outsourcing of three major airports
According to the PCCA,
interested parties must confirm their attendance via email by September 19.
The exact venue and time of
the pre-bid meeting will be communicated by the PCCA to confirmed participants
three days before the scheduled event, as indicated in the PCCA's notice.
Any alterations to the
meeting date will be promptly conveyed through the PCCA's official website.
The decision to outsource
the operations of Islamabad International Airport was initiated during the
tenure of the previous PDM government. In July, former Aviation Minister
Khawaja Saad Rafique announced in the National Assembly that these operations
would be contracted out for a period of 15 years.

However, it's worth noting
that navigational services and runway operations will remain under the purview
of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). These essential functions will continue
to be carried out by the CAA, while the remaining aspects of airport operations
will be outsourced.
Mr. Rafique had mentioned that 12-13 companies had expressed interest in managing the airport, and a competitive bidding process would determine the contract award.
