Islamabad airport to be outsourced in first phase
The government has taken a
strategic decision to bolster the country's aviation sector, which involves
outsourcing three major airports, following the global practice adopted by
numerous nations.
However, in recent
developments, the government has revised its approach to airport outsourcing,
and now only Islamabad International Airport will be handed over to a foreign
firm.
A public statement, issued
in this regard, mentioned that the International Finance Corporation (IFC)
presented a roadmap to the committee, which influenced decisions regarding the
future outsourcing of the first airport. The objective is to enhance service
delivery and align with the best international practices.
Earlier this year, the
Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority and the IFC signed a service agreement, with
payment plans established for the services provided by the firm.
