Expansion and development of Lahore Airport progressing rapidly
Expansion and development work at Allama Iqbal International Airport is
progressing rapidly, with several airside, terminal and passenger facilitation
projects either completed or nearing completion, the Pakistan Airports
Authority (PAA) said on Monday.
According to the authority, the newly constructed Romeo taxiway has
been fully operational since September 2, while operations on the Papa
taxiway have been underway since April.
The airport has also received improvements to its passenger
handling facilities following the opening of a new Federal Investigation Agency
(FIA) immigration hall on August 25.

Construction work is continuing externally at the new
immigration facility in Block 07, while construction of an Airport
Security Force (ASF) shed at the airport’s main entrance is nearing
completion.
The PAA said installation of new ticketing booths at the parking
entry and exit points has also been completed.
Terminal
expansion underway
Work on the expansion of the terminal building’s departure
bridge is progressing, alongside construction of an octagonal structure and an
airside corridor.
Construction is also continuing on the exterior of the new
passenger terminal building and the domestic terminal building.
The utility building serving the new passenger terminal has been
completed, while boarding bridges 9, 10 and 11 have been installed in
the airside corridor, according to the PAA.
The authority said civil works on the airport’s new apron are 99%
complete, with airfield lighting installation now underway.
Domestic
facilities being upgraded
Interior development of the new domestic airside corridor is
also progressing. The project includes construction of a new domestic
concourse hall and a domestic briefing hall.

The ongoing expansion programme is designed to increase the
airport’s capacity, improve passenger flows and enhance operational efficiency
at Lahore’s main international airport.
The projects form part of broader efforts to upgrade airport
infrastructure and improve passenger facilities as air travel demand continues
