Sialkot International Airport installs explosive detection
system to strengthen cargo security
Sialkot International
Airport has inaugurated Pakistan's first Explosive Detection System (EDS)
at its cargo terminal, marking a significant advancement in aviation security
and export facilitation.
The state-of-the-art screening system was jointly
inaugurated by SIAL Chairman Hassan Ali Bhatti and Export Development Fund
(EDF) Chairman Omer Saeed during a ceremony attended by senior airport
officials and members of the airport's board of directors.
According to airport authorities, the installation of
the EDS is aimed at strengthening cargo security, improving screening
efficiency, and supporting Pakistan's export sector by meeting international
aviation security standards.

Speaking at the inauguration, Hassan Ali Bhatti
described the installation as a major milestone for Sialkot International
Airport. He said the advanced system is capable of screening up to 1,800 bags per hour, enabling faster
processing of export consignments while enhancing security and operational
efficiency.
He added that the technology would facilitate the smooth
movement of cargo and reinforce Pakistan's commitment to complying with globally
recognized aviation security and operational requirements.
Export Development Fund Chairman Omer Saeed said the new
screening system would provide greater convenience to exporters by reducing
processing times and improving cargo handling capabilities. He noted that the
initiative would further strengthen Sialkot's position as one of Pakistan's
leading export hubs.
