Advanced scanners to increase security at busy airports of Pakistan

Authorities have approved the installation of modern scanning machines at Karachi Airport and other major airports across Pakistan to improve baggage screening and strengthen airport security.

According to sources, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), and the Airports Security Force (ASF) have completed a detailed survey for the deployment of advanced scanning equipment at busy airports, including Karachi. Work on the project has been accelerated through coordinated efforts among the three organisations.

The new scanners are expected to ensure faster and more efficient screening of passengers’ luggage while significantly enhancing security. Under the supervision of the CAA, the PAA and the ASF will jointly oversee the installation process to meet set targets and improve passenger facilitation.

The project, estimated to cost several billion rupees, will involve the installation of state-of-the-art scanning systems at airports in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, and other key cities.

Sources said the modern equipment will play a crucial role in preventing smuggling and other illegal activities at airports, while bringing Pakistan’s aviation security infrastructure in line with international civil aviation standards.
