Pakistan’s Airblue announces a major digital transformation initiative
Pakistan’s private airline Airblue has marked its 22nd year of operations with the announcement of a major digital transformation initiative, confirming that it will become the country’s first fully cashless airline effective July 1, 2026.
The airline stated that all transactions across its network will shift exclusively to digital payment channels. Customers will be able to make payments through the Airblue mobile application, official website, credit and debit cards, direct bank transfers, and approved digital payment platforms. Cash payments will no longer be accepted at any point of sale or service touchpoint.

According to the airline, the move is intended to enhance operational efficiency and improve the customer experience by reducing reliance on physical cash handling. The cashless model is expected to strengthen transaction security through traceable digital payments, accelerate check-in and boarding processes, and offer passengers a wider range of payment options.
The airline also highlighted benefits including greater convenience through streamlined online booking and check-in systems, as well as improved service consistency across its domestic and international network.
Founded over two decades ago, Airblue has positioned itself as a technology-focused carrier within Pakistan’s aviation sector. The airline has previously introduced digital ticketing, online check-in services, and new-generation Airbus aircraft on selected routes as part of its modernization efforts.
