Karachi Airport to be expanded at a cost of Rs. 100 billion to handle more passengers

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced a major Rs. 100 billion expansion plan for Jinnah International Airport, aiming to upgrade the facility to handle growing passenger traffic and future aviation needs.

The large-scale project includes the expansion of both domestic and international terminals, along with the construction of a brand-new terminal building. Designed with a 50-year vision, the plan takes into account expected increases in passenger numbers, cargo volumes, and commercial activity.

A key feature of the upgrade is the development of a modern cargo village and an international-standard cargo handling section, intended to improve efficiency and boost overall capacity. Additional facilities will also be introduced to better serve passengers and cargo operators.

Officials say work on the project has already been accelerated, signaling a major step toward transforming the country’s busiest airport into a modern, world-class aviation hub.
