Pakistan, Libya discuss increasing cooperation between their air forces

Senior Libyan military officer discusses air force cooperation with PAF Chief  

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, met Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, at Air Headquarters on Monday.

According to a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, the prevailing regional security environment, and ways to further strengthen bilateral military cooperation.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu highlighted the strong religious and historical ties between Pakistan and Libya, while briefing the visiting delegation on the PAF’s operational readiness, ongoing modernization efforts, and multi-domain capability development. He also emphasized the force’s focus on indigenization, innovation, and human resource development.

The Air Chief reaffirmed the Pakistan Air Force’s commitment to further enhancing professional cooperation with the Libyan Air Force. The delegation was also briefed on PAF indigenization initiatives being pursued under the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park.

Lieutenant General Haftar praised the PAF’s professionalism and expressed strong interest in expanding bilateral cooperation through joint training programmes, exercises, and professional exchanges.

The visit reflects renewed momentum in defence collaboration between the two brotherly countries.
